The turn of the first millennium AD, in the Islamic world, marked the flourishing of mathematics and science, which were also reflected in the arts and architecture. Gonbad-e Qabus tower, the tomb of the Ziyarid ruler and writer of 11th century, is one of the best manifestations of this reality. This structure has served as a model not only for structuring tomb towers for different nations in the region, but also of erecting monumental tombs for great statesmen and litertarians, resulting in its inscription as a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 2012.
