The city of earthen structures, domed houses, wind towers, old bazaars, and covered passageways is located near the central deserts of Iran. Yazd is the living example of adaptation to the arid environment and sustaining life through a qanat system of water supplies. In 2017, Yazd was recognized as a World Heritage Site by UNESCO.
