Nestled in the heart of the sacred Mountains of Bisotun, in Kermanshah Province, lies an open museum with archeological remains from as early as the prehistoric times. Most notably, the mountain safeguards a 3 meters high and 25 meters wide inscription, recounting Darius the Great’s ascent to the throne and his successive victories in Elamite, Babylonian and Old Persian Languages. As the first ever known piece of the Iranian history, the relief was recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 2006.
